As experienced design/build professionals, we can complete not only Butler buildings but conventional projects as well. Managing every aspect of the project from design through construction our resume of completed conventional, design-build projects continues to grow.

ELG Utica Alloys
We have just completed a major Design-Build renovation project for ELG Utica Alloys. The project included a complete roof replacement, renovations to the 16,000 sf Offices and Plant Restrooms, new Truck Access Doors and Truck Scale, Equipment foundations, and major Mechanical and Electrical work for the processing equipment. This is our second large project for Utica Alloys - we completed a build out of a 60,000 sf Shell building for their Titanium Processing division in 2006
JH Rhodes - Relocation
In 2007 we met this specialty manufacturer of polishing pads for the glass and consumer electronics industry. We had originally proposed a new 60,000 sf facility in Clinton, adjacent to their existing plant. The economic collapse of 2008 cancelled that project.
In 2011 the company contacted us about an available vacant building that we happened to have built in 1970. The 82,000 sf vacant former Oneida Container building was in very good condition but would need a major renovation project.
We assembled a design and construction team to facilitate a complete renovation.
The project includes large production rooms and areas with new full height partitions, complete painting of all exposed steel, heavy duty epoxy floor painting, completely new HVAC including several new Roof Top units with plant air conditioning and ventilation, a new 1200 amp electrical service and power to new equipment as well as new Labs and some new Offices.
The project was completed in March of 2013
Carbone - Pontiac/GMC
The Carbone Pontiac/GMC facility had a devastating fire on December 26, 2004, the Carbone family called on us to perform the emergency repairs to get the business up and running in just (3) days. We quickly assembled a design/build team and completed (3) additions totaling 10,500 square-feet and 14,000 square-feet of renovations.
Carbone Chrysler was a design/build project for Carbone Auto Group and was completed in February 2005 and includes a 14-bay Service/Wash Bay addition and a 4-bay Service Write up addition, entirely renovated Showroom and Offices, exterior facade and entry tower. The $1.5 million project was our third major contract with the Carbone Auto Group in the past 3 years. The work consolidates the Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge franchises into one expanded location.
MVCC Student Housing
A design-build $6 million, 3-story, 155-bed residence hall was completed August 2005. The 41,000 square-foot building is located next to existing student housing, enabling more than 400 of the college's 5000 students to live on campus. The architect chose a red brick exterior which coincides with the exterior of the existing student housing. The building will feature five-person suites with two double rooms and one-single room, along with a common gathering area and bathroom. Rooms are wired for Internet, telephone and cable-television services. Our company was selected on a design/build delivery system. Also we built two connecting links between the existing dorms to allow for better security and control for campus safety.
Utica College - Tower Dorm
This 27,000 square-foot building was constructed of concrete plank and masonry bearing walls with brick and split face block veneer to the exterior. The building is fully air-conditioned and the project has a full fire protection system. Each floor has a common kitchen and lounge/study area. The construction time from design to final occupancy took 10 months.
Utica College - Welcome Center
Utica College's new Welcome Center, serves as the first stop for prospective students and their families. After having abandoned a previous design that was over budget, we worked with the owner to develop a concept that met their budget and achieved a look that blended with the existing campus. The Design-Build project is a 5,500 sf custom Butler pre-engineered building with conventional exterior products including brick, blue stone, architectural metal, and aluminum/glass.
Some of the building's features include a Great Room with a 17' high ceiling and floor to ceiling Bluestone fireplace, six interview rooms for individual conferences with students and parents as well as a large open office area, conference room and lounge for faculty and staff The Great Room offers such amenities as wireless capabilities, USB Ports and audio-visual infrastructure for use by visiting families. Wilber Duck Chevy
In the spring of 2011, we sent out letters to local Chevrolet Dealerships asking if they were going to complete the renovations that were a new Image requirement from General Motors. The Wilber Duck dealership in Oneida responded and asked if we could meet with them. Following that meeting we prepared a budget based on the preliminary information from GM. We then offered our Design-Build Pre-Construction services to develop the drawings enough to prepare a more accurate budget.
In the fall of 2011, the owners accepted the budget. Through the winter, we completed the Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical plans with our consulting Architect and Engineers. The plans were submitted and approved by GM. We then bid out the project to a qualified list of area sub-contractors and suppliers and finalized costs for the items we self-perform.
The project began in March and was completed in early November 2012. The renovations included a complete removal of the Showroom building exterior, structural modifications for the new storefront layout and new GM Standard Aluminum Panels and signage. Also included were 2 additions – one for New Car Delivery and a Service Entrance Canopy. A complete interior demolition and renovation of the Showroom, Sales, Business, and Executive Offices, Customer Waiting, Service Write Up and Parts Sale areas was completed. Also a new electrical service and completely new HVAC systems were installed.
We are glad to have led the design and construction renovating this 80 year old building giving it a brand new look that meets the new GM/Chevrolet standards. We will add this project to our growing list of completed Auto Dealership projects. View more
